Local news story about the 80-year-old man who became the unexpected "face" of Porto Pride. My heart! (In Portuguese, but you can auto translate with the Chrome browser).
What a lovely and positive time you had, and I'm so glad you and E were there!
Weirdly, I noticed that you included the term "toxic positivity", and it was the second time I'd seen that phrase today. The first time was regarding a 🏈 player and how he surrounds himself with people who basically feed his ego, regardless of what is real. So I had a context for when you mentioned it, as if never seen that phrase before today.
I have her book "Bright-Sided" and has started to read it before moving to Portugal. "Nickled and Dimed" was fantastic. I'll add "Smile or Die" to the ever-growing list!
Thank you. One of my friends in Porto also pointed this out. I was going off Wikipedia, which used espigueros and hórreros, among other terms, but noted they are hórreros in Northern Portugal.
Oh my goodness this is such a beautiful story. I felt like I was right there with you by the firelight. What I would give to have been a part of such a beautiful and profound experience! You are blessed to have been so lucky. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Part of me is imagining the movie 'Midsommar', but the other would love to have been an observer of you happy people. I've made Pussy's 'Sweetness' the soundtrack to my comment - https://pussylebouton.bandcamp.com/track/sweetness

I recommend 'Smile or Die' by Barbara Ehrenreich.

Oh, I'm surprised it's the first time you've encountered it, but glad you have. It's an important concept!
The world needs more stories of hope like this to combat the constant bombardment of negative news. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.
Lovely. And so important.
Hórreo = "espigueiros" in Portuguese.

Thank you for your stories of hope. I needed them right now <3
I'm glad it was there for you when needed.

Isn't that song just amazing?!
Terrific. The best of the half a dozen I listened to. I want to send you a song or two you will appreciate. Tell me the destination on Chat.
